Bloggers Quick Start Guide to Money Making

Ok. Here’s generally what you need to get started to blog and possibly monetize your blog to generate some decent income. I have started mine for about two months already. Please bear in mind that it might or might not work depending on how much effort you are willing put to it – maintaining and optimizing your blog etc. It takes focus and patience so please do not expect that you would excel overnight.

People blog for many reasons such as to express their thoughts, rants, to share ideas, to keep in touch with friends and last but not least, to earn some income out of it. Whatever your reasons are, do keep in mind that it is best to have a good will in sharing your knowledge and to help each other. There are possibly many ways to make money online and blogging is one of the easiest way to start with and shouldn’t be left out.

1. Firstly, you need to have a blog account. Obviously you have an internet connection as you are reading this, so we’ll skip that as the first criteria needed. You can sign up for a free blog account at Blogger, WordPress or LiveJournal. If you’re are willing to invest some money, you can purchase Gobala Krishnan’s Wordpress AdSense System like I did to have a more in-depth exposure and step by step explanation on how to make money blogging. There are possibly many products that you can choose out there but for me, I will stick to this one first and having a focus on it.
2. After you have signed up with any of those free blog account you can start posting right away. You can possibly blog about anything that comes into your mind but the best approach is to stick to a “niche market” if you’re going to monetize your blog. Basically it means to have a topic that will be focused and targeted to a specific group of readers. For example, you can choose to blog about your favorite “games”. But that alone is rather a huge topic to blog about. From a “niche market” perspective, you can narrow it down to “computer games review” for example.
3. Sign up with for free Google AdSense account. Google AdSense is the advertising components of Google that pays you to show their advertisement on your blog. If you stick to blog about your chosen niche market, their advertisements that appear on your blog will be related to what you have blogged about. In return, your reader may be interested in the products advertised by Google and you will be rewarded if your readers click or purchase the advertised products.
4. You need a Paypal account to receive or make payment. Paypal is a well known, trusted world-wide payment processor. Sign up for a free Paypal account here. You may need to verify you Paypal using credit or debit cards. For Malaysian users who want to use Debit Card, I recommend Public Bank Visa Electron Debit Card. I heard that TuneMoney works as well but Maybank VISA Debit Card doesn’t as of yet.

Well, basically these are the 4 really basic things that you need to get started to make money from blogging. There are other matters such as inserting Google AdSense to your blog but this might be different as to which blogging platform that you are using. I will discuss more about this in a later post.
